About GCAM

GCAM was founded in 1997 by a Newcastle lad, Gary Adams.

Despite having had a successful career in other spheres, the Geordie in him drew him inexorably to the lure of shipbuilding, not quite on the grand scale of the heyday of the Tyne, but the attraction was and is in his blood.

GCAM's original business plan encompassed the construtuction of new builds and also refurbishments and repairs. And this track was pursued successfully for a number of years, until 2014?

Gary spotted an opportunity to diversify into marine plant and equipment and manpower hire. This now includes the provision of Floating Pontoons, Hiab Cranes, a comprehensive assortment of Boats and Tugs, Generators, Welding Equipment and the Skilled Personnel to man and service them.

This has attracted a number of major corporate clients many of whose business is river based, ranging from Thames Water and The Environment Agency to Costain, Barhale and J T Mackley.

Aside from his commitment to his family, his other two passions are Newcastle United and his dogs. He is a season ticket holder at St. James's Park and has recently acquired two rescue spaniels who are frequently to be found around the yard. More details of Gary's professional expertise and his team can be found here.
